"At The End of Waiting" - The Story of Rahad and Nodi

Rahad and Nodi first met on the first day of college. Rahad came late to class, all seats were full except one beside a girl. That girl was Nodi.

Rahad softly said, "Can I sit?"

Without even looking up, Nodi replied, "Sit, but don't fall asleep, this is sir's class."

That small conversation was the beginning. Slowly they became friends. Going to the library together, sharing one cup of tea in the canteen, standing under one umbrella on a rainy day. Rahad didn't understand when friendship turned into love. Nodi also realized she couldn't spend a single day without Rahad.

In the second year of college, one afternoon, sitting under the Krishnachura tree behind the college, Rahad gathered his courage and said, "Nodi, I love you. For a long time."
Nodi was silent for a long time. Then she smiled and said, "I knew you would say it one day. I love you too, Rahad, from much earlier."

From then on, their fairy-tale days began. They started dreaming. A small family, a small house, and a lot of love.

But fairy tales don't always stay fairy tales. Reality is much harder.

When both families got to know about it, a storm came. Rahad's family was poor but accepted it because he was an educated boy. But Nodi's family did not accept it at all. For them, Rahad had no future, no big job, no status.

Nodi's father said directly, "Don't keep any relationship with this boy. We have seen a boy for you."

Nodi cried a lot, tried to convince them a lot. But it was of no use. Her phone was taken away, she was not allowed to go out. Even going to college was stopped.

Rahad became like a madman. Every day he would pass by Nodi's house, hoping to see her once. He would send messages, no reply would come. That bench in the college now remained empty. Rahad felt that he had really lost Nodi.

Almost 2 months passed like this. Rahad had almost given up hope.

Suddenly one night at 11:45 PM, a message came from an unknown number. Only one line was written, "Come to the station tomorrow at 12 midnight. If you really love me. - Nodi"

Rahad's hands were shaking. He understood, this was the last chance. If he didn't go, he would lose Nodi forever.

That night Rahad left with some clothes and some saved money. At exactly 12 midnight he went to the station and saw Nodi standing wearing a black burqa, with a small bag in her hand. Her eyes were swollen from crying.

Without saying anything, Rahad held Nodi's hand. They boarded a train without knowing the destination. Later they went to a small town and rented a small one-room house. The house had only a bed and some cooking pots.

They got married the next day, in a Kazi office, with two friends as witnesses.

The initial days were the hardest. Rahad did 3 tuitions from morning till evening. Nodi worked online designing for a clothing page. At the end of the month, after paying the rent, they didn't even have 500 taka left in hand. Many nights they just ate puffed rice and water. But even in the midst of scarcity, there was a smile on their faces. Because they were together. At night Rahad would stroke Nodi's head and say, "One day everything will be fine, you will see."

Nodi would feel sad, she would feel pain for her parents. Rahad understood, but said nothing. He just hugged Nodi more tightly.

A year later, one morning someone knocked on the door. Nodi opened the door and saw her mother standing. With tears in her eyes.

Her mother hugged Nodi. She said, "Your father is not well without you. I couldn't stay anymore after seeing you are happy."

Nodi's mother was surprised to see Rahad. This boy was working day and night to protect her daughter. Though the house was small, it was tidy and clean.

The mother went back and told everything to Nodi's father. The father was angry at first, but the mother explained, "If the daughter is happy, what more do we want?"

After 15 days, Nodi's father himself came to their small house. Rahad was standing with his head bowed in fear. The father put his hand on Rahad's shoulder. He said, "Father, take care of my daughter. I misunderstood you."

That day was the best day of their lives. A mixture of tears and laughter.

After that everything changed. Their parents arranged a big ceremony and got them married again. Rahad got a good job, and Nodi also expanded her work.

Today, after 5 years. Rahad and Nodi have a little daughter. They have named her "Asha" which means Hope. Because this hope is what kept them alive for so long.

Holding Asha in his arms, Rahad still tells Nodi, "Didn't I tell you, one day everything will be fine?"

Nodi smiles and says, "Hmm, when you are there, everything becomes fine."

Their story teaches us, love is not just about staying together. Love is about fighting, waiting, and finally holding on to trust. Because true love never loses, it just comes a little late.
